Palio of Marciliana

Palio of Marciliana and one of the main folk festivals of the city of Chioggia, is a medieval historical retelling that evokes the war of Chioggia, the historical period represented from 1378 to 1381 when a great rivalry between the Serenissima Republic of Venice and the Republic of Genoa was established in order to obtain the hegemony of the trade ports of the East. This rivalry resulted in what is referred to as the Chioggia War. The event is dropped every third week of June this to remember the end of the siege of the city on 24 June 1381.

The Palio della Marciliana is represented by the contrade figures that in clothes of 1300, parade through the city of Chioggia, setting up the course of the people with inns, banquets, camps of armigeri, stands of crafts. The whole thing is enriched by the performance of dances, chants and simulation of fights. The heart of the Palio are the districts that contain the title of winner of the Palio during the challenge with the shooting of the big crossbows. The districts representing the city of Chioggia are:
