The Civic Museum of the South Lagoon

The Civic Museum of the Southern Lagoon — also known as “San Francesco Outside the Walls” Museum — is an archaeological and ethnographic museum of Chioggia and one of the main ones in the area of the Venice Lagoon. Operating since 31 May 1997, it is located in Campo Marconi n°1 and is set up in the former Convent of San Francesco outside the Walls, a short distance from the Porta di Santa Maria and at the end of the Canal Vena, the canal main city of the city. The original building dates back to 1315, while its reconstruction dates back to 1434, after the destruction occurred during the Chioggia war between the Serenissima Republic of Venice and the Republic of Genoa.

Diocesan Museum

The cultural centre of the diocese of Chioggia consists of the Diocesan Library, the Diocesan Archive and the Diocesan Museum.

The Diocesan Museum, stands next to the cathedral church and the episcope, with entrance from the “Sagrato” area. The “U” building, built at the end of the 90s, designed by architect R. Ravagnan, is grafted to the bishop's palace, covering with the inner cloister part of what was already the tomb of the cathedral.Dedicated to the martyrs Felice and Fortunato, patrons of the diocese, presents a path that the architect bodybuilder C. Rebeschini has divided into four sections.

The Museum of Adriatic Zoology “Giuseppe Olivi”

The Museum of Adriatic Zoology “Giuseppe Olivi” is a university museum open to the public, housed in the rooms of the second and third floors of Palazzo Grassi, the eighteenth-century residence of the Grassi family in Chioggia, in the province of Venice. The museum exhibits the historical zoological collection of Trieste and Rovinj, acquired by the University of Padua in 1968 by Professor Umberto D'Ancona. Marine animals are stored in liquid and were collected exclusively in the Adriatic between the second half of the nineteenth century and 1943. The museum presents marine organisms and environments, telling their biology, ecology and fishing traditions.

Il Museo di zoologia adriatica "Giuseppe Olivi" è un museo universitario aperto al pubblico, sede Palazzo Grassi a Chioggia. Il museo espone la storica collezione zoologica di Trieste e Rovigno, acquisita dall'Università degli Studi di Padova nel 1968 ad opera del professor Umberto D'Ancona. Gli animali marini sono conservati in liquido e furono raccolti esclusivamente nel l'Adriatico tra la seconda metà dell'Ottocento e il 1943. Il museo presenta organismi ed ambienti marini, raccontandone la biologia, l'ecologia e le tradizioni di pesca. Gli oltre 300 pezzi esposti nel Museo provengono dalla collezione conservata per oltre 40 anni presso la Stazione idrobiologica "Umberto D'Ancona" di Chioggia. Il nucleo originario della collezione era stato raccolto nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento a Trieste, attraverso il lavoro della Stazione zoologica di Sant'Andrea. Dopo la prima guerra mondiale la collezione fu trasferita nella Stazione italo-germanica di Rovigno.
